Bulgaria defeated Sweden 3: 2 on 31 August 2017 in a memorable and historic football game that began at 21:45.
This was the first victory of the Bulgarian national football team against Sweden for 50 years.
For the last time, the national football team defeated Sweden in 1967, when Georgi Asparuhov and Nikola Kotkov played in the team. Of 14 matches between the two teams the Bulgarian team has won only two, and two of the matches have finished on a par with each other.
Stanislav Manolev opened the score in the 11th minute after a shot from the left flank of Georgi Milanov, thus marking the first goal in the Swedish door since 1993.
Plamen Iliev saved a penalty in the 16th minute played by Emil Forsberg.
Sweden equalized the score in the 29th minute by Mikael Lustig.
Bulgaria rebounded in the score with Georgi Kostadinov in 33 minutes after a free kick by Ivelin Popov.
Sweden equalized the score in the 44th minute by Markus Berg.
The victory for Bulgaria came in the second half in the 79th minute by Ivaylo Chochev.
I can hardly describe the feeling I experienced this evening. Be on the pitch of the national stadium Vassil Levski for the first time in such a historical victory. A game that offered many goals and a penalty shot in our favor.
